Prof Levin is Head of the Division of Asthma and Allergy within the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Cape Town. He is recognised globally for his contributions to the field of allergy and immunology.

As a distinguished member of the board of directors of the World Allergy Organisation, Prof Levin represents the combined Africa, Middle East, and Russian region, advocating for support and advancement in allergy research and care worldwide.

He is a Fellow of prestigious organisations including the American College of Asthma Allergy and Immunology, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and the European Academy of Asthma, Allergology, and Clinical Immunology.

His expertise is further demonstrated through his active involvement in various executive committees, including the Allergy Society of South Africa, where he spearheads allergy education and training initiatives.

With a dedication to education, Prof Levin imparts his knowledge to medical students, professionals, and specialists in allergy through teaching and mentoring roles. He plays a vital role in shaping the future of allergy medicine by examining candidates for the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa Diploma in Allergology.

Prof Levin's research endeavours focus on understanding the epidemiology and mechanisms of food allergy in both urban and rural settings, as well as investigating the Alpha-Gal syndrome.

His extensive contributions to the field are reflected in over 105 peer-reviewed scientific articles and numerous chapters in medical textbooks. He actively develops protocols and guidelines adopted nationally, demonstrating his commitment to advancing clinical practice.

Outside academia, Prof Levin engages in community outreach, advocating for asthma and allergy management. He disseminates knowledge and expertise locally and nationally, contributing to the development of health services in allergy and general paediatrics.

His profound impact on allergy research, education, and clinical practice underscores his status as a leading figure in the field, both nationally and internationally.
