Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine and reproductive disorder with a prevalence ranging from 5% to 13% in women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS suffer an imbalance of female sex hormones. The imbalance may prevent the development and release of mature eggs. Without a mature egg, neither ovulation nor pregnancy can occur.
