We all know to act quickly in a patient presenting with stroke. However, in this urgency, it is easy to forget the long-term silent complications that may accompany the patient. In that acute phase, no one thinks of the risks of post-stroke pain. Strokes are the second most common cause of mortality and the third most common cause of disability worldwide. Annually, there are 795000 new strokes in the US alone, with a higher incidence in low-income countries.
