Approximately 8.9 million fractures are caused by osteoporosis.  These fractures occur mainly at the hip, vertebrae, and distal forearm and are associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and reduced quality of life.

1 in 2 postmenopausal women will have an osteoporotic fracture in her lifetime. Every 3 seconds an osteoporotic fracture occurs.
