Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a regional muscular pain with increasing prevalence and frequency associated with increasing age (Hou, 2002; Yap, 2007). MPS is characteristically caused by myofascial trigger points (MFTPs) (Wong and Wong, 2012). MFTPs are painful and sensitive areas within a taut band of muscle (Yap, 2007).
