Male infertility and the health of future generations

Prof John Aitken questioned the ASRM recommendation that DNA damage in spermatozoa should not be measured. Prof Aitken is a world leader in reproductive biology with a focus on male reproductive health and biology of mammalian reproductive cells based. He is also the vice-chancellor of the Faculty of Health and Medicine at the University of Newcastle (Australia).


In the United States, 475 women cryopreserved their eggs in 2005, according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology data. In 2018, the number had increased to 10 936, a 2000% increase.
