WHY WORRY ABOUT T2DM?

Elevated blood glucose levels can lead to damage to vital organs such as the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves over time1. T2DM accounts for over 90% of all cases of diabetes and is characterized by insufficient insulin secretion by pancreatic islet β-cells, insulin resistance in tissues, and an inadequate compensatory insulin secretory response1. As the disease progresses, insulin secretion becomes unable to maintain glucose homeostasis, resulting in hyperglycemia1.
