The prostate is roughly 3cm long and weighs about 20gr. Despite its size, it plays a major role in male reproduction. The prostate consists of epithelial cells (luminal, basal, and neuroendocrine [NE]), stem cells, and stroma including fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, myofibroblasts, blood vessels, autonomic nerve fibres, various immune cells, and extracellular matrix components.
